1st blog ever

Ahoy hoy!
I am not entirely sure where to begin. I guess I should start with posting the photographs we took last week... done.
I am not very partial to the picture where you can see up my nose, but I suppose I can't argue with the artist's taste. The one on the bottom isn't too bad, and quite possibly one of my best hair-days to date. Unfortunately, no one shall ever realize the gloriousness of my hair on that particular day.
Lastly, I have found some interesting examples of design that I will be bringing to the class tomorrow. I am not sure, however, if they constitute the examples sought after for the reading, so for this reason, and because of the fact that I don't have access to a scanner, that I have chosen not to showcase them on the blogger. Although, I will mention them briefly just because I believe they are interesting in their own regard.
The first is the cover of a novel I have read entitled, "As for Me and my House", by Ross Sinclair and published by McClellund & Stewart Ltd. I find the color scheme of the novel quite beautiful actually and the entire design "just works". I am not entirely sure shy but I suppose it is through this course that I will discover why.
Another interesting piece is the "Thonet Chair No. 14". I was reading a design book that goes over the history of design very briefly, but has numerous examples of interesting designs throughout history. I particularly like this one because it represents the crossover between the arts & crafts movement and the industrial revolution. This chair is both functional and yet appealing and attractive for that very same reason. Its simple, easy to transport, and it is for those reason I would very much have a set of Thonet No. 14 chairs in my very own home. I have never actually ventured to see if they are actually available but it is on my "To Do" list.
Well I suppose that is it for now. I will be scanning these examples as soon as I find the scanners in the EV building. I do not want to venture into getting images online and then violating numerous copyright laws, so instead, I will just indicate some links you can visit for examples on each.

Then, just search for the novel in question, or anything else that might interest you for that matter.
